Smint

Believed TB x Connemara

Smint was originally purchased as a hunt horse and returned home when circumstances changed at the kennels and she was surplus to requirements there.  She had proved a good hunt horse with a great jump and a good temperament (she'd formerly hunted with the Wynnstay ridden by a 15 year old.)

The angle of this photo disguises her great back-end but does emphasise her excellent shoulder and length of rein.

She was an excellent mother from the start,

Her colt showed very stylish movement from the start and took virtually no 'handling' to be a very friendly and inquisitive foal.

As we've managed to 'accumulate' a few too many non-RID mares, we'd decided before we saw Trebor that Smint would be returned to work and then be sold after weaning.  Watching Trebor develop into an exceptionally nice moving colt made it very tempting to cover her again, but we managed to resist the temptation and the plan is still to return her to work and find a good home for her in the spring.

Well - that WAS the plan.  But Smint has now returned to the kennels to help the kennel lad make the transition to whipper-in!  Here she is giving him a first jumping lesson!

Trebor (rear) is relaxing in the field with his two buddies, Quicksilver (ISH gelding in front) and Thornton (ID colt- middle.)
