Small enough to care!
|
Indigo Irish Draughts and Sport Horses is committed to breeding quality Irish Draughts of the traditional type,
and Sport Horses. Situated on 50 acres of well managed pasture,
visiting mares will get the best of care and attention under the
personal supervision of experienced owner/manager, Janet George.
|
Janet is well known to many in the horse world from her time with the
British Field Sports Society (now Countryside Alliance) and more recently
as Head of PR and then Acting Chief Executive of the British Horse
Society. Originally from Sydney, Australia, she owned her first pony
at four and spent her teenage years showing and showjumping. Her
work experience with horses includes managing a thoroughbred stud standing
three stallions, polo, racing, teaching and training.

Lady's Tralee Raj is a proven and
established stallion, and we were indeed fortunate to be able to acquire
him. His breeding, conformation, movement and temperament are
exceptional, and he has produced some top class stock. We're
confident he will continue to do so.

|
The stud has a small and committed staff. Olivier Gilot, our young
French rider, has competed to 2* level and is particularly skilled at
backing and bringing on young horses, and re-schooling 'problem' horses.

Murphy: a 3 year old TB x Shire taken for backing and
riding away in 2005. This picture was taken 3 weeks after he
arrived, and shows him trotting confidently and calmly. He went
home and continued to please. |
Our own Corraslira Cleo -
backed at 3 - seen here on the second day of riding. |

|
We import a small number of Irish sport
horses/RIDs to school and sell on. They are thoroughly assessed on
arrival and all necessary remedial/reschooling work is completed before
they are offered for sale. |

Timmy didn't look like much when he arrived - a frightened 5 year old
who had been backed and turned away - but - to quote our agent - had
'gone native'! He was hard to catch,
terrified of being approached in the stable, wouldn't tolerate his back
feet being touched - much less picked up. It took time, and a lot
of patience, to overcome his problems. He now has a new owner who
is absolutely delighted with him.

Harvey was a big, gawky 5 year old who'd barely been backed. He
had not much mouth and no balance, but lots of forward movement and a
sweet temperament. With patient schooling it became apparent where
his future would lie and he was purchased by Kate Attlee for a dressage
career. |

Would YOU buy the horse above left?? When my agent sent me that picture
I nearly didn't! But she was VERY well bred and I felt sorry for
her! Transforming her took a bit of time - but it was well worth
the effort and she found a very good home. |
|
|
|
Transformations such as those seen
above don't happen overnight. But if you have a horse needing a
makeover, whether for show or for sale, give us a call. |
