The Birth of a Foal
Bazaar's
Brook is an Irish Draught Sports Horse by Enniskeane Prince R.I.D. out

12.45 am - she's sweating, and licking the walls!
12.55 - the waters have broken and the white bag has just appeared.

12.57 am - She thinks about getting up - but it's all happening too
fast.
12.59 am - the feet are
clearly visible.

1.05 am - clearing the bag
from the foal's head and neck as mother rests momentarily.
It's a strong foal - clearing the mouth and nostrils - not always
necessary but it gives the attendant something useful to do!

1.10 am Mother is on the job - and foal is
already trying to rise.
1.15 - The naval has been dipped in an iodine
solution. The foal is a healthy filly and is now ready to stand
up.

Now a strong two year old, Indigo Reflection is
eligible for grading as an Appendix Irish Draught (AID) and will be
