Schooling, backing and re-training

We take horses of all ages for handling, backing, schooling on or re-schooling.  We also offer livery for broodmares and youngstock and take mares for foaling.

With good facilities and an experienced staff, you can be confident your horse will receive the best of care.

Backing

Introducing a young horse to ridden work HAS to be done properly, taking into account the horse's age, maturity and individual temperament.  It is essential that the horse is taught to go forward properly, and that he is not restricted from doing so.

We do NOT use side reins or any other artificial aids on young horses.  The first couple of days ridden the rider does not even have reins, so if the horse takes fright and takes off or bucks, his mouth is not inadvertently damaged.  Careful preparation means we rarely have horses broncking or taking off - but the neck strap is there, in case!
This lovely big Warmblood by Pascal is headed for a serious dressage career - this was his first day ridden.
Just one week later, he was calm and confident and really listening to his rider.
